Testimonials

Dear Irene,

I'm sitting here in New York looking at the photographs of our time at Lough Ine and in the Gate Lodge. It was nothing short of magic even if there were no ghosts! We were simply happy to be with each other in that incredible beauty of Southwestern Ireland. We fished and swam and explored and picnicked every day. We felt a solitude and peace that is all too absent in our regular lives and we want to thank you and Lough Ine for giving that to us.

You know we will return, perhaps not as soon as we'd like, but Lough Ine is part of us forever now.

With gratitude,
Peg and Cy and Simon and Clare

Hi Irene,

We returned from Ireland a few days ago and wanted you to know how charming and perfect our accommodation was for the week we spent at Loch Ine.  The scenery was spectacular and peaceful.  There was a grey heron who visited every day and fished right near the moored rowboats.  A pair of seagulls roosted on a rock just outside the windows of the alcove and provided a lot of entertainment for us.  The day we left, last Saturday, I walked up the lane to shoot some photos of the heron and when I walked back toward the lodge I saw the prettiest, serene face gazing at me from the same rock the gulls used...it was a gorgeous brown seal!  Luckily my camera was handy so I got some shots of it as well before it slid into the water and swam away.

We loved the Gate House Lodge.  It was so private and quiet.  The picnic area was lovely as well and we spent some happy hours there, drinking in the atmosphere.

The spiral staircase is a feature we have never before encountered in a self catering accommodation.  It was exotic for us.

Thank you for making such a special place available to travelers.  We absolutely loved it!

All the best,

Donna

Dear Irene

I just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful stay at Gate Lodge. It really is the most magical setting and made the most fantastic first family holiday together. We loved it and really hope to return perhaps with a gang of friends in tow to rent the big house as well!

Many thanks

Dear Irene,

We've now reached the end of our family holiday and my daughter and son in law have now returned to Colorado. Everyone thought the house was wonderful and it gave as so much space so we could be together or allowed us also to do our own thing. This is so important when eight people get together. We loved our first visit to Ireland and thought the Lough was a great place to be. Unfortunately the weather could have been better, but we did have some sunny days which allowed the boys to play cricket and also use the boat which was a great thrill. We hope to come back to Ireland in spite of having delays at Cork Airport which involved buying extra tickets and landing at Manchester instead of Birmingham!  When we do, we hope to be in touch again and see if the house is free.  Thanks for making it so comfortable for us and all good wishes to you.

Yours, Mary Andrew.

Dear Irene and Richard,

Thank you very much for allowing us to rent the Gate House. Iit was far more beautiful and comfortable than we could of hoped. (So often you look at internet or brochure information and discover the photos have been carefully angled to avoid ugly building works) The cottage was delightful. The views spectacular. The rowing boat was great fun and allowed us to explore the shore line of the lake.

It was lovely that Paddy, Mary and Geraldine popped by at times to enquire if all was ok with us, and it was very nice of you to invite us for a glass of wine or two when you arrived at the main house.

We hope you had a restful Easter break and your family arrived safely to enjoy it with you.
Your instructions were easy to follow and we will be recommending your properties to our family and friends.

All the very best,

Sue, Keith and Margaret

Dear Mrs. Beard,

My husband and I spent five days at the Gate Lodge at the beginning of July and it could not have been a better experience! I felt like I had walked into a fairy tale when I entered the cottage and it only got better as the days passed. The absolute silence at night made me hold my breath with wonder and the charm of the cottage cannot be easily described. Everything was just perfect-including Geraldine and Paddy and Mary Burke who were very helpful. Thank you and I hope that not many years pass before we return to your lovely retreat at Lough Ine.

Regards,
Ann
